The NCC invited the Institute for Information Industry (III) to share the successful experience of the APEC Opportunity Center (ADOC) to motivate colleagues to promote business.中文
The III Executive Officer Gong, Ren-wen and Section Chief Zheng, Nai-hao were invited to share the successful experience of ADOC program in NCC on April 11. Participants included NCC Chairperson Chan, Ting-I, Commissioner Yaw-Shyang Chen, Chief secretary Xiao, Qi-hong, Deputy Director Ji, Xiao-zheng and other NCC colleagues.
The ADOC program originates from the October 2003 APEC Economic Leadership Conference in Bangkok, Thailand, where President Li Yuanzhe (Head of Chinese-Taipei delegation) presented the APEC Digital Opportunity Center (ADOC) Program Initiative; and in September 2007, during the Sydney APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, Mr. Shi Zhenrong, the founder of Acer, spoke on behalf of the ADOC 2.0 project initiative.
The program draws on a model of governmental cooperation to take care of women and children in remote areas and assists APEC in the promotion of e-engineering projects so as to enable the people in these areas to benefit from the opportunities provided by ICT.
In addition, we have strengthened our friendships with other members, actively promoted our participation in APEC, expanded our diplomatic presence, thereby promoting our international status, and expanded international business opportunities for our information industry.
The ADOC program has been in operation for more than 10 years across the APEC region. During this period, 101 digital opportunity centers have been established in 10 countries and have held a total of 730,000 training sessions with the participation of 39 international volunteers from 14 national colleges and universities to help more than 5,000 small and medium enterprises to grow, and more than 15,000 children in poverty return to school.
The program has received acknowledgement and is highly regarded by the International Affirmation, and during the period from 2004 to 2014, it was not only included six times in the Joint Declaration of the APEC Ministers' Meeting, but also received the WITSA Award for Outstanding Digital Technology and the AFACT eASIA Reduced Digital Dropout Award.
The NCC hopes to continue to draw from this successful experience, with view to enhancing the effectiveness of telecom services, shortening the digital divide between urban and remote areas, and implementing digital human rights.
