NCC Completes Transition of Three New Commissioners: Herng SU Elected as Chairperson中文
Chairperson Bonnie Peng, and commissioners Ta-Sung Li and Chin-Nan Hsieh completed their tenures at the National Communications Commission with distinction and valor and, as of July 31, 2010, have made way for three new commissioners: Shi-Chung Chang , Shyue-Win Wei and Herng Su. Also, Commissioner Chorng-Jian Liu has been reappointed after serving a full term.

The Commission now consists of the following commissioners, listed in order of Mandarin characters: Hsiao-Ling Weng, Cheng-Tsang Chen, Shi-Chung Chang, Chorng-Jian Liu, Chi-Hui Chung, Shyue-Win Wei and Herng Su. On August 1, the Commission convened to vote for a chairperson and vice chairperson. Subsequently, Herng Su was elected as Chairperson, and Cheng-Tsang Chen as Vice Chairperson, as witnessed thereafter by Minister without Portfolio, Chin-Fu Chang of the Executive Yuan, completing the handover ceremony.

All three newly appointed commissioners come from the academic sector; among them, Shi-Chung Chang is a professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University; Shyue-Win Wei is a professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering Chi-Nan University; Herng Su is a professor at the Department of Journalism, National Chengchi University. Combining their expertise with the existing commissioners, the entire commission’s professional domain encompasses the demands of telecommunications, information science, communication, law, finance, and economics required of the commission, as stipulated in Paragraph 2, Article 4 of the NCC Organization Act. Moreover, the induction of a legal tenure turnover system ensures the commission’s administration will be bridged smoothly and moved forward effectively in the future. As such, the NCC expects to achieve new milestones and welcomes the support and valuable input from all sectors.
