Peter Dengate Thrush, Chairman of ICANN(Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) calls on the National Communications Commission中文
ICANN Chairman Peter Dengate Thrush, accompanied by Xian Xiong Zeng, Chairman of TWNIC(Taiwan Network Information Center )and his colleagues, called on the National Communications Commission on Thursday, 2 September 2010 and were met by NCC Commissioner Shyue-Win Wei.

ICANN, a high-level international organization, is responsible for the allocation of global Internet Protocol(IP)addresses and Domain Name management.

The proposal of the 「.台灣」 top-level domains was approved by the ICANN 38th Brussels Meeting on 25 June 2010. Consequently, TWNIC will formally provide 「.台灣」registry service as domain names will be able to include Chinese characters in the near future.

During the brief meeting parties discussed the NCC and its organizational structure, recent developments of IP/DN in Taiwan, IDN(Internationalized Domain Names), IPv6 development, and network security and stability issues.
