2019 Internet Safety Summer Expo Series – Level Up with iWIN!中文
This summer vacation, don’t miss out on the 2019 Internet Safety Summer Expo Series, organized by the Institute of Watch Internet Network (iWIN), an NGO chartered by various governmental departments to promote a safe and healthy online environment for children and youths. The campaign includes a series of large-scale, online safety expo fairs, complete with booths and activities that target both children and parents. Each of Taiwan’s four major regions (North, Central, South, and East) is set to hold its own expo. The events are a combination of the efforts of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Economic Affairs, National Communications Commission, local police agencies and civic organizations, as well as online safety software representatives, all of whom share the aim of promoting healthy and safe internet use. Join us as we work to “level up” internet protection and online literacy for children and teens!
The 2019 Internet Safety Summer Expo Series already completed its first stop in Taichung at the bustling public strip known as the Calligraphy Greenway on July 13. The second stop, held on the afternoon of Saturday, July 27, brought the campaign south to the Kaohsiung Cultural Center. Both of these outdoor expos featured a plethora of booths and stalls with lively games and engaging challenges, as well as prizes and gifts for participating in activities, such as mobile battery chargers, teddy-bear themed travel toothbrushes, USB mini electric fans, and a variety of specially-designed stationery. Additionally, event goers can sign up for an online prize drawing of gift certificates, a patterned skinny pillow, an Easy Card, an e-sports gaming mouse and headphone set, as well as more exciting gifts.
When considering the new generation of mobile tech users, social promotion campaigns such as this one can play a critical role helping the young gain valuable understanding of internet safety and avoid its many traps and snares, as well as manage the threats that come from the vast amount of inappropriate content that appears online. Therefore, these events are not only a fun way to spend some weekend family time participating in engaging activities and winning fun prizes, but also help learn more about internet safety. The goal of iWIN is that parents and children can leave feeling both rewarded and equipped with new knowledge.
If you missed out on the first two events, don’t worry, there is still time to come and check out the expos at the third stop, on August 11 at Taipei Zoo from 1-4 P.M., or the fourth stop, on August 24 at Hualien’s Cikasuan Park from 2-5 P.M.
