2022 Summer Workshop on Internet Security— Join hands with your kids to learn about online safety中文
To raise awareness of online security among children and young adults, the Institute of Watch Internet Network (iWIN), an NGO chartered by various governmental departments, has organized a series of large-scale promotional campaigns entitled “Summer Workshop on Internet Security.” The first event took place between 2 and 5p.m. on July 23 at the Hualien Cikasuan Riverside Park, which will be followed by two more events at Dream Mall Kaohsiung Store (2–5 p.m., August 13) and Taichung’s Calligraphy Greenway (2–5 p.m. September 3) respectively.

2022 marks the sixth anniversary of the Summer Workshop on Internet Security, an educational workshop in the form of a holiday bazaar co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Industrial Development Bureau, police/social/administrative agencies, internet security providers and service platforms, as well as non-governmental organizations. Stalls are set up at locations where parents and their kids gather to promote safe and secure internet use, provide tips on discerning misinformation, and help bolster the general public’s digital literacy. This year, in addition to the fun educational games and secret prizes for those participating in person, the organizers are running a raffle where both in-person and online participants will have a chance to take home the many prizes on offer. Parents are welcome to bring their little ones along and take part in this exciting and informational event during the weekends.

In addition to the workshops, iWIN’s annual Children and Youth Internet Safety Conference is set to take place on August 16. The conference will kick off with a keynote speech on the iWIN’s progress in the past year and outlook for the coming year, followed by seminars that foster communication between youth representatives and the industry, government agencies, and the educational sector. The conference aims to draw attention to the protection of children’s privacy while encouraging public discourse on the matter.
