First US FCC Commissioner Officially Visits NCC to Strengthen Taiwan-US Exchanges on Issues of Communications中文

The National Communications Commission (NCC) sincerely welcomed Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Brendan Carr to the NCC on 2rd November. Commissioner Carr is the first serving commissioner of the FCC to visit NCC since its establishment in 2006. He was received by NCC Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen and Commissioner Chung-Shu Chen after which lively discussions were held on a range affecting communications, such as telecommunications businesses and cybersecurity.

During the talks, Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen emphasized that in the face of the rapid development of the global communications and ICT industries, the communications regulatory authorities share many of the same challenges. Moreover, following its restructuring on 27th August, NCC remains committed to regulation of the communications industries and coordinates closely with the relevant ministries to create the development of Taiwan’s digital economy.  In addition, when formulating policies and regulations, NCC frequently refers to regulatory experiences of the US and FCC especially as they are established with similar democratic values and principles.

FCC Commissioner Carr said that Taiwan and the United States are solid partners and affirmed the NCC's efforts in communications policies. In addition to exchanging views on important telecommunications services, cybersecurity, spectrum management, satellite communications and data management, the two sides aim to continue to deepen the interaction between the two agencies in the future and share the views on communications regulation.

The NCC emphasized that NCC will continue to conduct professional exchanges with the FCC and other competent authorities of communications around the world, and through bilateral meetings or other means acquire understanding of important policy experiences; both sides look forward to further enhancing the Taiwan-US cooperative relationship in the future.
