In line with its core duty of supervising the communications industry and ensuring its sound development, the commission strives to continually improve the security protection of critical infrastructure. NCC holds an annual ceremony to acknowledge those in the communications industry that have made outstanding contributions in key infrastructure security protection exercises. Those awarded receive a certificate of appreciation as publicly announced by the commission members.
　　The 2019 Protection of Critical Communications Infrastructure Award Ceremony was held at the International Conference Center of the Ministry of Transport on February 6, 2020. A total of 104 representatives from the communications industry were invited to participate. Commissioner Yeali S. Sun presided over the award ceremony and presented the awards to the representatives of four companies, Television Public Television Service Foundation, Chief Telecom, Taiwan Intelligent Fiber optic Network, and TTC TV. She also presented the certificate of appreciation to three representatives, including Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile and Phoenix Cable TV.
　　After the awards were presented, Commissioner Yeali S. Sun delivered a talk acknowledging all those that have actively participated in the exercises and performed outstandingly; her speech also emphasized the importance of the communications network as one of the nation’s eight critical infrastructures. She also noted that in order to maintain its resilience and high-quality services at the lifeline level, the industry should continue to improve the protection of critical infrastructure, as well as regularly review and implement the protection of critical infrastructure plans.
　　A number of experts and scholars with many years of experience in facility security protection related fields were also invited to the awards ceremony to share knowledge on critical infrastructure protection; in addition, industry representatives who participated in the 2019 exercises were invited to share their insightful experiences with view to further enhancing protection.
