National Communications Commission (NCC) Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen received a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (AmCham) on August 19, 2021. The two parties exchanged opinions on the development of communication services and other legal issues related to convergence, as well as the recent hotly discussed investigation of illegal multimedia set-top boxes and the progress of international news bargaining. Commissioners Wei-Chung Teng, Lih-Yun Lin, Chi-Hung Hsiao, as well as the directors of all NCC departments, were also in attendance.
As there are no formal diplomatic ties between Taiwan and the United States, AmCham plays a representative role in the relationship between the two nations. In order to strengthen the exchanges between the government and industry, the NCC also took this opportunity to meet with representatives from Media and Telecommunications Committee and the Digital Economy Committee of the AmCham to gain greater insight to the current needs of industry and development trends, which can provide a valuable reference for future policy planning and implementation.
