In coordination with the Telecom Technology Center (TTC), NCC, on 28 October 2022, held a forum entitled, "Into the Frontier, Beyond Digital Innovation Trends ", in which experts from academia and industry from different smart applications fields, were invited to discuss digital innovation pertaining to the latest 5G technology practices in finance, business, entertainment, medical and industrial manufacturing, as well as issues related to the development of Metaverse with the aim of exploring visionary thinking and industrial opportunities in the digital age.

During the opening remarks given via video, NCC Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen noted that in response to the global digital development trend, Taiwan has endeavored to stay abreast of the latest developments. NCC has accelerated the construction of digital infrastructure by promoting forward-looking Programs. It has been more than two years since 5G was launched in Taiwan, and the coverage rate of 5G in Taiwan has reached 95% of the population. Furthermore, the highest download speed of 5G is also the highest in the world. In the future, NCC will actively cooperate with the Ministry of Digital Affairs to jointly promote policies related to digital transformation, and improve the environment of the development of Taiwan digital economy. NCC commissioners Wei-Ching Wang, Yi-Hui Wang and Chung-Shu Chen were also in attendance.

The forum consisted of three themes and comprehensive panel discussions. The first theme of "Innovation and Development Trends" during the morning session was presented by Sheng Kai Tang, Product Designer of Meta Reality Labs, Darren Lu, the Chief Executive Officer of Synology Technology, and Jacob Mei, Chairman of JKOpay. They focused on global digital innovation trends, future business and finance developments sharing observations and insights. After three keynote speeches, Commissioner Yi-Hui Wang, hosted a panel discussion, in which the above three representatives discussed industrial opportunities in the digital age.

The second theme entitled, "Innovative Application Exploration" was held during the afternoon and was presented by Po-Wei Wang, the Artistic Director of Digital Art Foundation, Ken Yu, the General Manager of imedtac, Chang-Ho Liou, the Chief Executive Officer of Mechavision Inc. They shared insights into developments of 5G application services, such as the virtual and real entertainment experience, Smart Healthcare and Smart Manufacturing.

The third theme, "Innovative and Visionary Thinking", also during the afternoon, was presented by Ju-Chun Ko, the Assistant Professor in the Department of Interaction Design in National Taipei University of Technology. He spoke from the point of view of creating a Metaverse world, sharing a new perspective in the digital age. After the four keynote speeches, Commissioners Wei-Ching Wang, hosted another panel discussion with four representatives, discussing the forward-looking vision of entering the Metaverse world. The Forum also drew a perfect conclusion after the panel discussion.

During the event, experts from various industries and fields shared views and suggestions on various smart application services, the development of Metaverse, and the fusion of virtual and real worlds, helping the public gain greater understanding of the latest technological applications and visionary thinking, and grasping the latest trends and values of development in the future digital world from a more macro perspective.
