The two sides exchanged views on communications regulation issues, such as 5G development and cybersecurity, emerging technology laws, and Taiwan-US cooperation in a warm and cordial atmosphere.

Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen noted that Taiwan and the United States are solid partners and share common democratic values and principles. He continued to mention that although the world had been affected by the COVID-19 epidemic over the past few years, the cooperation and exchanges between Taiwan and the United States remained close. He also expressed the hope that after the epidemic eases, Taiwan and the United States could find more opportunities for exchanges and cooperation in various industries, especially in respects to actively promoting the digital transformation and development so that enterprises can effectively respond to changes in economic and trading conditions.

Paul Wolfowitz, Chairman Emeritus of USTBC, stated that the development of cybersecurity of 5G is not only a concern of the United States, but also a significant issue for many other nations. He expressed hope that Taiwan and the United States would continue to work closely together facilitating win-win situations.

NCC emphasized that with the rapid development of information technology, and in response to emerging issues, NCC shall continue to exchange opinions with multiple stakeholders with the aim of building consensus, upholding public interests and international trends, and ultimately determining the most appropriate solutions to enhance digital governance and promotion of the digital economy.

Finally, NCC expressed that through this visit, USTBC Chairman Emeritus Paul Wolfowitz, President Rupert Hammond-Chambers and industrial representatives have been able to gain deeper understanding of the development status of related industries in Taiwan, and can look forward to greater cooperation and continuing to strengthen Taiwan-US relations.
