On May 27th of 2024, Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen of the National Communications Commission (NCC), along with Commissioner Chung-Shu Chen and other relevant representatives, met with Mrs. Maya Yaron, the representative of the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, and Ms. Naama Henig, Head of the International Affairs Department at the Israeli Ministry of Communications. The parties exchanged views on topics such as ICT development and regulating emerging technology, as well as wartime mobilization and response.

Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen welcomed the Israeli visitors and took the opportunity to express concern over the current wartime situation in Israel and his hopes for a swift end to the conflict. He noted that throughout the conflict, Israel, by means of policy guidance and coordination with telecom operators, has been able to maintain smooth operations of communications. The discussions covered a wide range of ICT policies, including spectrum management and license regulation, the prevention of telecom fraud, AI legislation planning, the 5G innovation ecosystem, and emergency response and communication mobilization during war. Mrs. Maya Yaron expressed her gratitude to the NCC for the meeting. In addition to sharing insights on the resilience of Israel's digital infrastructure, universal service, and the main responsibilities of the Ministry of Communications, the Israeli parties emphasized certain shared values between Taiwan and Israel and expressed interest in seeking more opportunities for exchange and cooperation between the two countries in the future.
