Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen of the National Communications Commission (NCC), along with Commissioner Chung-Shu Chen and supporting colleagues, visited the Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU) and the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting (RRTV) on June 21, 2024. They were received by CTU Council Chairman Marek Ebert and RRTV Deputy Chairman Jiří Maceška. The Taiwan and Czech delegations exchanged views on important issues related to telecommunications regulation and internet communication policies, including the Czech Republic's implementation of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), CTU's role as a digital services coordinator, internet governance policies, combating misinformation, and intergovernmental coordination.
NCC and CTU had already signed a "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of telecommunications" agreeing to deepen their cooperative relationship through information and personnel exchanges, and joint projects based on principles of equality, reciprocity, and mutual benefit in 2011. Chairperson Yaw-Shyang Chen of NCC led the delegation following his participation in the " European Dialogue on Internet Governance " (EuroDIG) held in Lithuania from June 17 to 19 of 2024, visiting the Czech Republic's communications regulatory authority in Prague after the conference. Both sides enjoyed fruitful discussions and expressed hopes for further exchanges in the future.
