New Zealand and Taiwan Sign the Arrangement for Cooperation in the Regulation of Spam中文
Taiwan took a large step in its combat against unsolicited commercial emails by signing the ‘Arrangement concerning Cooperation in the Regulation of Spam’ with New Zealand on December 12. The arrangement paves the way for greater cooperation, industry connection, and exchanges of policy, information and personnel between the two nations and strengthens policy making and implementation of regulation for unsolicited commercial emails, ultimately facilitating the development of the digital economy of Taiwan.
The Arrangement was signed by Representative Wu, Chien-Kuo of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New Zealand and Director Si'alei Van Toor of the New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office, Taipei. Vice Chairperson Wong, Po-Tsung of NCC also attended the signing ceremony.
Cross-border service on the Internet has become the trend of global trade, and spam has transformed into all kinds of commercial electronic messages that causes mistrust and hinders the digital economy. NCC has not only been keen to establish international cooperation in this regard, but has also been drafting the Digital Communications Act, which tackles the problem. As always, NCC is keen to compile and encourage public feedback after publishing the draft.
During the ceremony, NCC Vice Chairperson Wong expressed appreciation that both sides have devoted great efforts to bringing this arrangement into reality and hopes that this Arrangement will enhance the mutual cooperation effectively and share regulatory policy and practices so as to deal with the negative influence that unsolicited commercial electronic messages cause, especially in cyber security and the digital economy.
With view to future cooperation, NCC emphasized that based on this Arrangement , which includes exchange of policies, regulations, effective measures with regulators, industry cooperation and mutual visit, Taiwan and New Zealand will be enabled to establish a network for cooperation and may discuss issues of communications or digital economy in the future.
