Events Highlights

Commissioner Shi-Chung Chang visits the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)中文
Since the convergence of communications and broadcasting technology is expected to bring drastic changes to related industries and markets, the Executive Yuan has been diligently promoting the digital convergence development program. A key component of this plan is the transition to digital television broadcasting in 2012. The NCC places high value on learning from the experience of its peers around the world in such issues, through official visits and bilateral meetings.

On March 17, Commissioner Shi-Chung Chang of the NCC headed to Washington DC to pay a visit to the FCC and NTIA. During his visit, he met with Commissioner Ms. Meredith Attwell Baker and experts of the FCC and Deputy Assistant Secretary Ms. Anna M. Gomez and experts of NTIA for an exchange of information on the digital television switchover, the digital set-top box program, spectrum management, and the communications policies of the US.

Commissioner Chang also shared the developments of communications in Taiwan, and invited the experts of both the FCC and NTIA to visit Taiwan, so as to further improve bilateral exchanges between the communications agencies of both the US and Taiwan.
