In preparation for the release of 5G licenses, NCC dispatches staff to a local government to promote the construction of the base stations
As part of its ongoing preparations for the release of 5G licenses in 2020, NCC has been promoting the use of public buildings and land as suitable facilities for base stations. With this objective, on October 18 at Douliu City Office, Yunlin County, a forum was held by NCC with Professor Horng-Ching Hsiao, Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology with the promoting awareness concerning electromagnetic waves.
During his opening remarks, Mayor of Sheng-Jue Lin, of Douliu City, outlined his expectations for the future 5G and expressed his wish that NCC could go deep into other townships to hold similar activities to resolve people’s doubts concerning electromagnetic waves from base stations.
NCC Assistant Director General Han expressed gratitude for the warm support of Douliu City, and promised to cooperate with the city office to handle related affairs.
After that, Professor Hsiao gave a brilliant and insightful talk to more than sixty audience members. He explained the relationship between base stations and electromagnetic waves, and how the lives of people remain uninterrupted by such facilities. Professor Hsiao also stressed that when disaster strikes, base stations play a critical role in saving lives through early warning systems, etc. It was also noted that professional instruments have been used on sites to measure electromagnetic wave values of environmental value, mobile phone calls, LINE calls, microwave ovens, and Wifi AP. The results showed that all electrical products were within safe limits, meaning that people do not need to worry about them too much.
During the final Q&A, NCC Assistant Director General Han and Professor Hsiao answered the questions from the audience, dispelling doubts and fear of people one by one. Consequently, it is hoped that the public can become steadily more supportive of the construction of local base stations and less inclined to be opposed. The event was held in a very enthusiastic and positive atmosphere and concluded successfully.
