Announcements:

  1. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. has been appointed to provide universal service for data communications access in uneconomic regions covering 5 counties, 2 directly-controlled cities, 11 towns, tribes (neighborhoods) in 13 villages: the 5th Neighborhood of Wanggu Village in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, the 3rd Neighborhood of Sanguang Village in Fusing Township, Taoyuan County, the 10th Neighborhood of Xiuluan Village in Jianshih Township, Hsinchu County, the 1st to 3rd Neighborhood of Xixing Village in Dapu Township, the 1st to 3rd Neighborhood of Leye Village in Alishan Township, and the 8th Neighborhood of Gongtian Village in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, the 1st to 18th Neighborhood of Baolai Village in Liouguei District, and the 3rd Neighborhood of Wanshan Village in Maolin District, Kaohsiung City, the 9th and 11th to 12th Neighborhood of Hongye Village in Wangrong Township, Hualian County, the 1st Neighborhood of Yuanbei Village in Baisha Township, the 2nd Neighborhood of Jibei Village, the 1st Neighborhood of Niaoyu Village, and the 12th Neighborhood of Jiangjun Village in Wangan Township, Penghu County. The 15 remote construction sites (as shown in the attached table) for broadband service are planned to be established by the company which has been appointed by NCC in 2014.
  2. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd, designated to provide uneconomic regions with universal service for data communications access in 2014, shall comply with Articles 6 to 9 and Item 1 of Article 13 of the Telecommunications Universal Service Regulations and follow previously-planned construction sites for broadband by NCC. The net cost of universal service shall be counted toward the universal service project on data communications access for uneconomic regions of 2014. The project of the year 2014 shall be proposed by June 1, 2013, the provider shall apply to NCC for universal service. After it is authorized, the universal service project on data communications access for uneconomic regions and estimated subsidy will be announced.
  3. To enable the residents of remote areas to install stable, high-speed and high quality data circuit and broadband Internet service, the 2014 universal service project on data communications proposed by Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. should upgrade the previously-planned 15 construction sites for broadband speed to over 12Mbps, and the company should also propose a detailed project on broadband construction, including information regarding planned implementation approaches, contents, estimated costs, residents’ needs for broadband and its application. NCC will review its economical validity and technique feasibility before initiating construction.
