In Accordance With: Item 2 of Article 13 in Telecommunications Universal Service Regulations authorized and approved by Item 1 and 4 of Article 20 of the Telecommunications Act and 629th Committee Meeting on February 4, 2015

Announcements:

1. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. has been appointed to provide universal service for data communications access in uneconomic regions covering 7 cities and counties in New Taipei City and so. The 20 remote construction sites (as shown in the attached table 1, 2) for broadband service are planned to be established by the company which has been appointed by NCC in 2016.
2. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd, designated to provide uneconomic regions with universal service for data communications access in 2016, shall comply with Articles 6 to 9 and Item 1 of Article 13 of the Telecommunications Universal Service Regulations and follow previously-planned construction sites for broadband by NCC. The net cost of universal service shall be counted toward the universal service project on data communications access for uneconomic regions of 2016. The project of the year 2016 shall be proposed by June 1, 2015, the provider shall apply to NCC for universal service. After it is authorized, the universal service project on data communications access for uneconomic regions and estimated subsidy will be announced.
3. To enable the residents of remote areas to install stable, high-speed and high quality data circuit and broadband Internet service, the 2016 universal service project on data communications access in uneconomic regions proposed by Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. should subsumed the previously-planned 20 construction sites, and the company should also write it clearly a specific description of broadband construction (including information regarding planned implementation approaches, contents, estimated costs, residents’ needs for broadband and its application). NCC will review its economical validity and technique feasibility before construction.
4. The 14 construction sites at appendix 1, the broadband speed should be above 12Mbps. The 6 construction sites at appendix 2, the broadband speed should be above 100Mbps. (Coordinate Council of Indigenous Peoples in tribes to construct wireless broadband networks.)
