2021 Summer Internet Safety Fair held in Kaohsiung and Taichung – more activities planned 中文
In order to raise awareness of safety of children and youths online, the cross-sector group iWIN Institute of Watch Internet Network (iWIN) held a large-scale promotional activity, 2021 Summer Internet Safety Fair at Kaohsiung’s National Science and Technology Museum on Aug. 24th 2021 and Taichung’s Calligraphy Greenway on Sept. 4th.

According to iWIN’s research over the past 4 years, the age at which children and youths are exposed to the internet for the first time is gradually falling. In particular, the number of children who have been exposed to the internet between the ages of 3 and 6 has reached over 15%, and more than 94% of children and youths have their own smartphone device. Therefore, as the first line of defense in safeguarding minors when they enter the online world, parents must possess knowledge about online safety in order to teach their children how to protect themselves when they first begin to explore the internet.

To ensure that activities promoting internet literacy are reaching children in elementary school and younger and their parents, iWIN collaborated with the Ministry of Education, internet security software businesses, internet platforms, and NGOs to hold Summer Internet Safety Fair promotion activities at places where parents take their children on trips. By incorporating internet security literacy, online behavior, and moral education into children’s games, the fun activities promote parent-child communication and enhance the internet literacy of minors.

iWIN plans to continue to hold online and offline internet safety promotional activities for children and youths. The third and fourth activity will be held online from Nov. 16th to Dec. 31st and from Nov. 25the to Nov. 30th, and will be carried out through forums, PaGamO Mission Books, podcasts, feature articles, promotion videos, and quiz contests. Please feel free to look up iWIN Institute of Watch Internet Network on Facebook for details and information.
