In Accordance With: Item 2 of Article 13 in Telecommunications Universal Service Regulations authorized and approved by Item 1 and 4 of Article 20 of the Telecommunications Act and 468th Committee Meeting on February 22, 2012

Announcements:

  1. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. has been appointed to provide universal service for data communications access in uneconomic regions covering 7 cities and counties, 8 towns, 12 villages and 41 tribes (neighborhoods): the 6th to 7th Neighborhood of Hsinliao Village in Pingxi District, the 3rd and 6th to 8th Neighborhood of Shitsao Village in Pinglin District, the 1st, 5th, 6th and the 8th to 13th Neighborhood of Yuguang Village, the 1st to 10th Neighborhood of Shuide Village, and the 1st to 6th and 11th Neighborhood of Tsuku Village, New Taipei City, the 8th Neighborhood of Songluo Village and the 7th Neighborhood of Fuhsing Village in Datong Township, Yilan County,the 6th and 7th Neighborhood of Yihsing Village in Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County, the 12th Neighborhood of Hongye Village in Wanrong Township, Hualien County, the 4th Neighborhood of Nangang Village in Guosing Township, Nantou County, the 7th Neighborhood of Hsihsing Village in Dapu Township, Chiayi County, and Kongguan Tribe and Padrangidrangi Tribe of Kongguan Village in Lyudao Township, Taitung County. The 13 remote construction sites for broadband service, planned to be established by the company which was appointed by NCC in 2013, are as shown in the attached table.
  2. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd, designated to provide uneconomic regions with universal service for data     communications access in 2013, shall comply with Articles 6 to 9 and Item 1 of Article 13 of the Telecommunications    Universal Service Regulations and follow previously-planned construction sites for broadband by NCC. The net cost of universal service shall be counted toward the universal service project on data communications access for uneconomic regions of 2013. The project of the year 2013 shall be proposed by June 1, 2012, the provider shall apply to NCC for universal service. After it is authorized, the universal service project on data communications access for uneconomic regions and estimated subsidy will be announced.
  3. In order to coordinate with the “Project of Digital Convergence Development” of the Executive Yuan, which enables residents in remote areas to install stable, high-speed and high quality data circuit and broadband Internet service, the 2013 universal service project on data communications proposed by Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. should upgrade the  previously-planned 13 construction sites for broadband speed to over 10Mbps, and the company should also propose a detailed project on broadband construction, including information regarding planned implementation approaches, contents, estimated costs, residents’ needs for broadband and its application. NCC will review its economical validity  and technique feasibility before initiating construction.
