In Accordance with Item 2 of Article 13 in Telecommunications Universal Service Regulations authorized and approved by Item 1 and 4 of Article 20 of the Telecommunications Act and 342nd Committee Meeting on February 3, 2010.

Announcements:

  1. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. has been appointed to provide universal service for data communications access in uneconomic regions covering 5 counties, 6 towns, 7 villages, 22 tribes (neighborhoods), including the 3rd to 5th Neighborhood of Kuihui Village in Fuhsing Township, Taoyuan County, the 3rd to 5th and the 8th Neighborhood of Wangu Village in Pingxi Township, New Taipei City, the 12th Neighborhood of Wuhe Village and the 11th Neighborhood of Juihsiang Village in Rueisuei Township and the 1st, 9th and 10th Neighborhood of Yuancheng Village in Yuli Township, Hualien County, the 8th to 12th Neighborhood of Hside Village in Tianliao Township, Kaohsiung County, the 1st to 4th Neighborhood of Nantian Village in Daren Township and Makerahay Tribe of Sanjian Village in Changbin Township, Taitung County. The 8 remote construction sites for broadband service, planned to be established by the company which was appointed by NCC in 2011, are shown in the attached table.
  2. CNT CATV CO., LTD. has been assigned to extend broadband network in the 15th and 16th Neighborhood of Yongfu Village in Chungliao Township, Nantou County to provide universal service for data communications access in uneconomic regions. Shangjie Tribe (Neighborhood) is located between the 14th and 17th Neighborhood which was announced by NCC in 2008 to be equipped with broadband network by CNT CATV CO., LTD. Therefore, the company extended the broadband network for the tribe free of charge and residents in the tribe were able to pay to install cable TV or broadband. The 2 remote construction sites for broadband service, planned to be established by the company which was appointed by NCC in 2011, are shown in the attached table.
  3. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. and CNT CATV CO., LTD., designated to provide uneconomic regions with universal service for data communications access, should comply with Act 6 to 9 and Item 1 of Act 13 of the Telecommunications Universal Service Regulations and follow previously-planned construction sites for broadband by NCC. The net cost of    universal service shall be counted toward the universal service project on data communications access for uneconomic regions of 2010. The project of the year 2011 shall be proposed by June 1, 2010, and the two providers should apply to NCC for universal service. After it is validated, the universal service project on data communications access for uneconomic regions will be announced, and the two companies will be requested to submit the estimates for subsidies.
  4. A detailed project on broadband construction, including information regarding planned implementation approaches, contents, estimated costs, residents’ needs for broadband and its application should be conducted on the basis of the    universal service project on data communications access for the 12th Neighborhood of Wuhe Village and the 11th Neighborhood of Juihsiang Village in Rueisuei Township, Hualien. NCC will review its validity, economy and feasibility of techniques before the launch of the construction.
